Additional Knowledge - GND Filter (alternative to HDR)

I was viewing few pictures created by my friend (Ishafizan); an IT guy but also an outdoor photographer whom love music (play guitar) too. First, I thought of HDR as his picture looks like that. Today I got the answer. He left HDR few years ago and only concentrate on GND filter. Wow. It is rather and a lot simpler than HDR or IR but the picture is still amazing.
